When my Indian friend (native of India) shared Ajwain seed with me to plant in my garden I scoffed and told her they were celery seeds. She laughed at me and told Ms.-Know-It-All they were in fact NOT celery seeds but a very common herb in India that was a relative of lovage, a rather close cousin to fennel.
I’m growing them in my garden am excited to grow them for the pretty flowers as much as the seeds. My friend uses the seeds in her sautees and stews which make for incredibly aromatic sauces. Approximately 140 days to maturity. Packet contains 20 seeds.
